Reporting StructureReports To: Head of MaintenanceDirect Reports: Supervisor, TechniciansJob Summary and PurposeThe Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the proper functioning of equipment in industrial workshops. The Maintenance Engineer leverages a deep understanding of maintenance strategies to contribute to day-to-day operational maintenance expertise and leadership, supporting the Head of Maintenance in monitoring and implementing strategies for managing the shipyard's assets throughout their lifecycle. All work is executed to a high quality and auditable standard consistent with the company’s integrated management systems and policies. A high level of trade skill and experience is demanded and is expected to be demonstrably applied to technical problems and monitoring of trades employees.Key AccountabilitiesDevelop a deep understanding of the yard-specific maintenance strategy and support the Head of Maintenance in breaking the strategy down into short to medium-term work plans and tactics.Maintain CNC Equipment, PLC-based Equipment, Hydraulic Equipment, Lathe machines, Roll press Machines, Plate cutting machines, Welding machines, blasting, and painting equipment.Maintain equipment in all workshop facilities.Maintain utilities in all workshop facilities.Maintain civil and structural integrity of all workshop facilities.Ensure proper functioning of electrical, electronic, and communication components of the equipment.Prepare and manage all spare parts required for the maintenance of the equipment and related assets.Assist the Head of Maintenance in preparing maintenance strategies to reduce failure rates of equipment and improve maintenance KPIs.Prepare RCA reports and provide the Head of Maintenance with proposals for preventing repeat failures and ensuring lessons learned.Prepare scopes of work and tender documentation for subcontractors.Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with the scope of work.Lead and supervise maintenance technicians.Prepare risk assessments and apply for required permits.Maintain maintenance records.Coordinate with relevant authorities and obtain approvals for any changes to systems and structures.Communicate upwards regarding training needs, process improvement suggestions, and follow up on implementation.Schedule and prioritize work considering all available resources.Prioritize the wellbeing of oneself and colleagues while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to all health & safety protocols, participating in wellbeing & wellness programs, and promptly reporting any concerns regarding wellbeing.AccountabilitiesDemonstrate work behaviors consistent with company values and work within company policies, standards, procedures, and any legislative requirements.Ensure compliance with quality management procedures and controls to deliver high-quality services and products.Follow all safety procedures and report lapses. Monitor yard facilities and report to the Head of Maintenance.Ensure that the SAP Module is maintained according to the schedule.Implement and monitor compliance with department budgets and raise any deviation requirements.Monitor approved subcontractors.Demonstrate leadership at monthly section review meetings.Support execution of daily operations, ensuring maintenance plans are met.Provide timely updates and inputs to inform stakeholders and support internal decision-making and performance review processes.Model a collaborative and cross-organizational relationship within and between maintenance, operations, and support functions to ensure alignment to a desired high-performance culture.Foster an engaging culture of safety and productivity through role modeling Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions values.
