Job Summary: This Manager - BME manages, coordinates and influences all functions related to the safety testing, repair and maintenance of biomedical patient care equipment, as well as all paperlite functions of this fully digital test device environment, which integrates an automated BME testing solution into an advanced CAFM application and a Wi-Fi based facility-wide RFID/RTLS tracking system. Manages all aspects of medical equipment technology and training programs for relevant BME technical staff in regards to equipment operations, standards and maintenance. The job holder is responsible for providing quality care by managing and coordinating the activities of the Biomedical Engineering Department within the framework of existing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.Key Role Accountabilities:Ensures that the Biomedical Engineering Services are compliant with Sidra Medicine's requirements and all the accreditation bodies' requirements.Leads implementation and ongoing improvement of biomedical engineering management programs, including operational standards and effective industry specific key performance indicators.Manages the provision of Biomedical Engineering services including implementing effective policies, procedures, processes and systems, to ensure compliance with all relevant Sidra Medicine's requirements.Manages the departmental workforce in consultation with the Director of Biomedical Engineering regarding departmental-wide strategies, policies and systems for workforce planning, recruitment, retention, occupational health and safety, education and training, and performance management.Supports the implementation, maintenance and modifications as necessary for an effective paperless, CAFM integrated, Equipment Maintenance program incorporating accurate data, relevant histories, efficient preventive maintenance schedules and flexible reporting needs.Acts as a medical equipment technology expert on hospital committees as required.Provides data to the Director of Biomedical Engineering for analysis of department operations and performance as required.Provides support for all medical equipment services in terms of service, delivery, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and professionalism.Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to service quality improvement, ensuring a high level of commitment to professional job performance and customer service throughout Sidra.Promotes and maintains effective communication systems within the department that ensure the team managers/supervisors work together towards achieving the departmental objectives.Motivates, organizes and encourages teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met.Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.Supports all biomedical engineering departments' resources and activities in relation to company objectives and set targets.Acts as a resource mentor for technology management issues for all departments at Sidra.Maintains current knowledge in international testing and quality management issues and applicable standards.Manages the day-to-day maintenance of a quality management system including the identification of risk issues, conducts investigations and audits and ensures corrective and preventative actions are taken to mitigate the risk.Management of equipment service contracts, warranty compliance and department SLAs.Conducts performance reviews for reporting staff, by setting measurable goals and objectives and incorporating Sidra's vision and values.Qualifications, Experience and Skills:Education: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical EngineeringExperience: 5+ years of experience with progressive responsibilities in Biomedical EngineeringJob-Specific Skills and Abilities:Demonstrated experience and skill in participating in JCAHO/JCI surveysDemonstrated ability in multiple areas of Bio-Medical Engineering i.e. Anesthesia, Imaging, Laboratory, IT/IM SystemsFamiliar with JCIA, AAMI, ECRI, NFPA, ANSI, FDASkilled in the understanding of current electrical safety codes#J-18808-Ljbffr
