The Head of Kigali Project is responsible for the management and delivery of the project for the Kigali airport infrastructure on time, within budget by liaising and coordinating with stakeholders, supervising and managing members of the project team by means of overseeing project implementation, financial and administrative oversight, reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the project.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the operation of the project team to enable the delivery of the project in accordance with the established budget, time scales, safety targets, quality assurance and control procedures.Monitor the activities, works and performance of the appointed stakeholders and ensure the project is on schedule.Ensure project support and align with organizational strategy by overseeing processes from initiation to commissioning and handover in cooperation with the Senior Project Director.Provide strategic advice to Senior Project Director and Upper/Executive Management to ensure the realization of Company’s Vision.Provide oversight of project implementation including all activities, outputs, and outcomes related to project management and administration, including reporting, budget development and monitoring, financial transactions, execution of project plans and project performance.Manage, direct, and delegate project tasks to Senior Managers, Senior Engineers, Architects, Engineers, Commercial representatives, etc. in the execution of all project works.Oversee and manage project progress of Contractors and Consultants in coordination with the Senior Project Director and propose adjustments as needed by developing, facilitating and implementing a detailed project plan to monitor and track project progress.Oversee, prepare, review and manage project budgets in partnership with the Cost Consultant(s) by tracking project costs in order to meet budget and deadlines in coordination with other stakeholders.QualificationsAbout the Candidate:Recognized degree in Architectural/Engineering.Relevant Project Management experience, and experience in seeing projects through the full life cycle.Minimum 20 years of formal engineering or architectural training in large/complex building.Minimum 10 years professional experience in large international airport projects (Experience in operational airport environment preferred).Minimum 5 years site experience.Essential knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices is required.Excellent oral and written skills required at all levels in the organisation.Command of English language.Financial management skills and ability to prepare and deliver annual budgets.Excellent project management skills; able to deliver tasks within tight deadlines.Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.Uses continuous improvement techniques to drive performance.Detail-oriented and the need to provide outputs with limited time schedules.Well-*** with all relevant regulations, statutory requirements and Health & Safety Regulations.Managing contracts to deliver service level and cost expectations.Sound Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point.Proven ability to solve problems creatively.Strong client-facing and internal communication skills.Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies and best practices.Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
